The Trauma Informed Mindy Body (TIMBo) training was developed to prepare you to become a certified TIMBo program facilitator and requires you to attend three training modules. Once you have completed all of the training modules and obtained your license, you can begin to help others heal through personal empowerment.
The TIMBo Foundations training is just the start of your journey. In this 32-hour intensive training, you will experience firsthand the power of this program by acting as both participants and facilitators of the curriculum. You will leave this training with a clear understanding of gender responsive programming and why is it so important. You will also learn the core principles of the TIMBo program and begin to understand the role of the TIMBo facilitator.
You will begin to understand how early childhood trauma and stress leads to long-term mental, emotional and behavioral issues and how the components of this program were designed to reverse that process. You will be given an introduction to trauma-sensitive yoga instruction and the importance of nurturing touch. Most importantly, this training will change how you think about yourself and those around you.

One of TIMBo’s main principles is the importance of the healing power of touch. We believe that safe, nurturing touch is integral to the TIMBo program. We have combined the Hands on Healing module with our Trauma Informed Yoga module so that participants may understand what “safe touch” means and how to properly administer it in the context of the TIMBo trauma informed yoga class. You will also gain an understanding of the healing effect of safe and nurturing touch on the brain and body, as well as what emotional anatomy is and how it is relevant to TIMBo. As always, you will learn about yourself—your own willingness to recognize the gifts you have to offer and your willingness to receive.
Working with trauma survivors requires a keen awareness of how stress and trauma resides in the body. All too often, yoga teachers inadvertently instigate more trauma and stress in their students—and in a population of trauma survivors this can have devastating consequences. In this training you will learn what trauma-informed yoga is and how to deliver a TIMBo specific trauma informed yoga class. We will cover the key components and objectives behind integration postures, endurance postures and restorative postures and you will learn how and why breath is the most crucial component of any class you will teach. These techniques, coupled with the instruction and practice of healing touch will leave you with the tools to deliver a safe and powerful class that puts your students recovery first and creates space for lasting change to occur.

This final module will weave together all of the knowledge your have gained from the first two modules and help you understand how those lessons (technical, spiritual and personal) are directly relevant to the delivery of this program. Through this module, you will further internalize and integrate the principles of the program and the role of the facilitator—and begin to understand that your strength as a group leader is based in trusting yourself and the women around you. You will learn to facilitate the TIMBo group in accordance to specific facilitator objectives and gain a clear understanding of your role as facilitator. You will leave this training ready to lead groups of women through the transformational and empowering process that truly has the power transform lives and communities.
